Meet our Doctor:
Dr. Jeffrey A. Klosterman, OD
Dr. Jeff Klosterman grew up in the rural town of Celina, Ohio, which is ironically the County seat of Mercer County, Ohio. When home on breaks from his pre-medical studies at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH, he worked as an optometric assistant to his mentor Dr. Frank Tangeman, which ultimately solidfied his decision to pursue a career as an Optometrist. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology in 2001 and was accepted into The Ohio State University College of Optometry, which is amongst the highest ranked Optometry Doctorate programs in the country. As an Optometry student, he received a rigorous education through classes and labs on human and ocular anatomy, systemic and ocular disease, physiological optics, pharmacology, and countless other specialized topics. His clinical training included rotations through primary care, pediatric, low-vision, and contact lens clinics, as well as external rotations through private practices, ophthalmology surgery centers, the Cheyenne, Wyoming VAMC, and others. He was presented with his Doctorate of Optometry degree in June of 2005.
After working for an Ophthalmology practice in Sandusky, Ohio for a little over a year, Dr. Klosterman and his wife, Lesley, decided to relocate to beautiful Mercer County, KY to pursue his dream of owning his own practice. Dr. Klosterman purchased the Optometric practice of the well-known and respected Dr. Charles Hatcher, who had practiced on Main Street in Harrodsburg for over 50 years. Opening his doors to patients in October of 2006, Dr. Klosterman has been pleased to see his dream grow...including a move in 2008 to the practice's current location which allowed more space for cutting-edge equipment to further his exceptional patient care.
Dr. Klosterman and Lesley currently reside in Mercer County and are blessed with their daughter Reece and their son Grant. They are members of St. Andrew Catholic Church and are both very active in the community. He is a member of the Harrodsburg Lions Club (serving as President twice) and serves as the Optometrist representative to the Mercer County Board of Health. He strongly believes in promoting Harrodsburg and Mercer County and has membership in both the Mercer County Chamber of Commerce and Harrodsburg First. Dr. Klosterman is also very involved in the Kentucky Optometric Association as Membership Chairman and was honored to receive the "Young Optometrist of the Year Award" for the Commonwealth of Kentucky from that organization in 2009.
